It’s a fun, character-driven narrative that weaves together comedic timing and emotional payoff. Get ready for a trip down memory lane with a fresh new story that captures the essence of a beloved era!

Inspired by a Golden Era: Director's Statement

Our inspiration springs from the campy dream of early 2000s romcoms: their distinct style, unforgettable lingo, and timeless romance. When you grow up on some of the best romcoms of all time, it’s hard to see them all fade away. It’s a tired cliche, but they really don’t make them like they used to

What glued us to these movies, was the surreal, lush world that lived around the characters. Anything was possible: the nerd could get the homecoming queen, the cheer team was the only thing in the world worth caring about, and there was always a happy ending. As the world around us gets darker, it’s movies like these that we run back to as an escape.

We hope that “The Way Things Used 2 B” provides this escape. Though short, we hope to one day expand the world of “Used 2 B” and revive the enchanting, dream-like worlds of the romantic comedy. We want to bring laughter, connection, and camp back to the movies. “The Way Things Used 2 B” is just the beginning.

Our Unique Touch

What makes "The Way Things Used 2 B" stand out is its deep sense of familiarity. We're not aiming for nostalgia bait, or to just copy and paste the films of our childhood. The Y2K genre of romcoms is so beloved because even in their perfect, eccentric glow, everyone could connect with them in some way. We want to continue evoking this glitter gel pen era and add in our own life experiences and humor to continue evolving the genre. We hope people feel happy, hopeful and thoroughly entertained after watching, realizing just how much they miss the magic of a great romcom. Just like its predecessors, it's a film everyone can relate to and enjoy!

"We want to help revive the romcom genre and share the joy with everyone who’s ever dreamed of riding a motorcycle with Matthew McConaughey or kissing Jude Law in a quaint British cottage."

- Kurstin Moser & Ciara Naughton, Writer/Directors
